Africa House - new blinds for newly refurbished office

Electric sloping cassetted blinds to solve shading challenge of the 50 degree rear glazed elevation.

Africa House has been transformed from a tired, outdated secondary office location to a state of the art, high specification, prestigious office building. Africa House has been extended, remodelled and comprehensively refurbished behind its existing façades to provide a full, Grade A specification building with efficient open plan office accommodation. This landmark building has now been brought up to date, with flexible user-friendly accommodation, an ‘Excellent’ BREEAM rating and 30,000ft2of additional lettable space.

Design was developed in close association with JM Architects. Case study here. Construction was completed by BAM Construction, Case Study here.

Labetts installed R201 roller blinds with thermal efficient roller blind fabric to the vertical windows, with some blinds on the R211 hardware system and spanning in excess of 4000mm wide with a single chain operated blind.

The centre piece was the B421 cassetted blind system installed as a gravity drop system on elevations which were sloped beyond 50 degrees! These blinds were installed so that they could be re-configured to accommodate future office configurations.
